KJCCC Track and Field Athletes of the Week: Dekell Minor and Chaniqua Tonge

KJCCC TRACK AND FIELD ATHLETES OF THE WEEK: DEKELL MINOR AND CHANIQUA TONGE

 

FORT SCOTT, Kan. (Mar. 20, 2024) - The Fort Scott Community College Track and Field program recognized two athletes as Athlete of the Week. Freshman Dekell Minor from Houston, TX, had a strong showing at their past event. Minor is a sprinter focusing on 100-meters and 200-meters, and he excelled at the Kirk Baptiste Spring Invitational. The freshman posted #1 time currently in the NJCAA for the 100M with a time of 10.26 seconds. His other event was the 4x100M relay, where he and his teammates posted a time of 39.55 seconds, which is also #1 in the NJCAA and the 14th fastest time in NJCAA history. 

On the women's side, sophomore sprinter Chaniqua Tonge swept her events for the 100-meter and the 200-meter races. Tonge placed a time of 11.54 seconds in the 100M and 24.02 in the 200M, which is #1 in the NJCAA for both events.
