Track & Field Shines at NJCAA Nationals 

FORT SCOTT, Kan. (Mar. 7, 2024) - Fort Scott Community College Track and Field program dominates at the NJCAA Nationals in Florida. This is historically the best season in school history and the first national championship in program history after winning the 4x400 Relay. The athletes that won this event were Durrell Collins, Michael Nworu, Mario Paul, and Nickory Richards; their time was a top-10 finish in NJCAA history with a time of 3:10.24.

Sophomore, Chaniqua Tonge finished the weekend:

2x All American; she placed 6th in the country for the 60-meters and 5th in the country for the 200-meters.

Tongue set the school record in the 60-meter with a time of 7.57 seconds. 

 

Sophomore, Ivana Odonkor finished the weekend:

1x All American; she finished 7th in the country for the 400-meters.

Odonkor set the school record with a time of 55.35 seconds. 

 

Sophomore, Icey Green excelled this weekend:

1x All-American; she placed 6th in the country in the Pentathlon.

Green set the school record with 2993 total points.

 

Freshman, Charmar Smith finished this weekend:

1x All American; he finished 6th in the country in the 600-meters.

Smith set a school record in the 600 meters, 1:18.33.

 

Sophomore, Fabian Campbell excelled this weekend:

1x All-American; he placed 5th in the country in the 800 meters with a time of 1:53.05.

 

Freshman, Barry Richards placed 6th in the country in the 60-meter hurdles with a school record of 8:02.
