FSCC MBB Finishes Season in KJCCC Championship

 

FORT SCOTT, Kan. (Mar. 12, 2024)—The Fort Scott (22-11) men's basketball program lost the championship game to Johnson County Community College 74-61. This is the first KJCCC Championship appearance in ten years and the first since the conference expanded to eight teams.

FSCC was led by Bryce Journee (23 points), BJ Francis (18), Andre Norris (11), and Denymh Smith (10). The Greyhounds finished the season with the most wins since 1951 when FSCC won 23 games. They have also won the most games in a two-year span in school history, with 41 wins.

The Greyhounds recorded win 22 on Friday night in the semi-final match against Kansas City Kansas Community College, 93-72. FSCC shot 58.3% from the field while grabbing 40 rebounds and dishing out 17 assists. Fort Scott had five players in double-figures: Denymh Smith (17), Denis Kadiric (16), Andre Norris (16), BJ Francis (13), and Bryce Journee (11). 

After a stellar weekend, sophomores, BJ Francis and Bryce Journee were named to the KJCCC All-Tournament team.
