FORT SCOTT, Kan. (Feb. 20, 2024) - Fort Scott (20-9, 8-5 KJCCC) men's basketball program defeated Allen Community College 93-76 to put them in sole possession of 3rd place in the KJCCC. This is only the second 20-win season since 1990-1991 when the Greyhounds went 20-10; the other season came in 2017-2018 during the Michael Cook era while Blake Cochran was also on staff.

FSCC had 12 players score against the Red Devils, with eight scoring more than five points. The Greyhounds were led by freshman Davion Sargent, who had 21 points, shooting 6-8 from the field and going a perfect 7-7 from the free-throw line. BJ Francis contributed 16 points, shooting 70% from the field (7-10) and dishing out four assists with zero turnovers. As a team, the Greyhounds shot 55.4% and 43.8% from deep while out-rebounding the Red Devils by 14.

FSCC is currently top-25 in the country in field-goal percentage (25th), rebound margin (23rd), steals per game (7th), and points per game allowed (15th).

Fort Scott will travel to Highland, KS, for their last regular season match against Highland Community College on Wednesday at 7:00 PM. During the first match, the Greyhounds defeated Highland on Feb. 3, 75-72. Highland is currently tied for fourth place in the KJCCC with Neosho Community College at 7-6 each. Coach Cochran states, "The resilience our program came out with from the first whistle is everything we predicated during film and practice this week. It is exciting to play like this as we approach our final conference game before the KJCCC tournament. This is a tremendous milestone for our program, and it shows with the hard work our players have poured in since August, we will continue to build on this leading into March. We cannot thank everyone enough for coming out to the game on Saturday!"
