Johnson County Knocks Off Greyhounds 64-59

The Fort Scott Community College men's basketball team went back and forth with Johnson County on Wednesday night at Arnold Arena but the Cavaliers are able to prevail and pick up the road win over the Greyhounds 64-59.

Johnson County led 24-20 at halftime but the two teams combined for 79 points in the second half but the Greyhounds would come up just short being outscored in the second half 40-39.

Fort Scott struggled from three point range as they hit just two of 15 from behind the arc. They made five of their seven free throw attempts and connected on 41% from the field.

The Greyhounds would post three players in double figures led by Andre Nelson with 17 points to go along with nine rebounds. John Montgomery added 14 and Jayden Davis provided 14 points off the bench.

The Greyhounds leading scorer, Tyler Zinn was held to just 2 points and 0 of 11 from the field.

Johnson County would connect on 44% of its shots in the game and they were able to hit seven of 23 from three point range. Cavaliers posted three in double figures led by Xavier Womack with 16 points and nine rebounds.

Greyhounds sit at 19-10 overall and 3-4 in conference play. They'll wrap up the regular season on Saturday afternoon at Arnold Arena against Highland, tip-off scheduled at 4:00 following the women's contest.
