Greyhounds Dominate Hesston in 100-69 Victory

The Fort Scott Community College men's basketball team snapped a brief two game skid with a monster victory on Saturday afternoon against Hesston, 100-69 at Arnold Arena.

This was a tale of two halves as it was close in the first as Fort Scott only led 41-37 at halftime. Hesston didn't score for over six minutes to start the second half and the Greyhounds took advantage with a hot start and from there they were able to cruise to the big win.

They would outscore the Larks 59-32 in the second half.

Another monster night for the Greyhounds' leading scorer as Tyler Zinn tallied 30 points on 10 of 15 shooting including hitting six of 10 from three point range. John Montgomery hit 12 of 20 shots and added 25 points with most of his damage done in the second half. Montgomery also added seven assists. Dontrell Sanders and Andre Nelson also finished the game in double figures with 18 and 11 points respectively.

The Greyhounds hit 58% of its shots from the field including 12 of its 19 trips to the free throw line.

Hesston shot 45% from the floor but committed 20 turnovers in the ball game. The Larks were led in scoring by Cal Hartley with 13 points.

FSCC improves to 18-8 overall and will get back to conference play on Wednesday night at Labette. They'll follow the women's game with a scheduled tip time at 7:30.
