Greyhounds Drop First Game in Conference Play at Johnson County

The Fort Scott Community College men's basketball team dropped its first game in conference play and had its eight game winning streak snapped at Johnson County on Saturday with a 79-68 loss at the hands of the Cavaliers.

The Greyhounds got off to a slow start in the first half and trailed by 19 at the break. FSCC would improve offensively in the second half and would chip away at the deficit but JCCC was able to hold off the Hounds to secure the win.

Fort Scott's leading scorer Tyler Zinn led the Hounds with 17 points along with six rebounds and two assists. Four other players tallied double figure scoring outings for FSCC with Dontrell Sanders adding 15 and John Montgomery putting up 12. Jayden Davis and Andre Nelson each finished with 11.

For the game, the Greyhounds shot 33% from the floor and just two of 21 from three point range. However, they hit all 20 of their free throw attempts.

Johnson County was led by three players in double figures with Xavier Womack and Anthony Lupardus going for 21 and 20 points respectively. Mat Baldeh added 11 off the bench for the Cavs. JCCC hits 46% of its shots including 10 of 22 from three point range.  

The Greyhounds are 17-7 overall, 2-1 in conference play and will play at Highland on Wednesday night.
