Men and Women Pick Up Road Wins at Hesston

The Fort Scott Community College men's and women's basketball teams picked up road wins in region play at Hesston on Wednesday night.

The Lady Hounds used big time second and third quarters to create separation on their way to an 85-63 win. FSCC would outscore the Lady Larks 22-7 in the second quarter and 29-18 in the third quarter. This was after trailing by six points at the end of the first quarter.

FSCC would post five players in double figure scoring including four starters. Arkiarra Clark led the Hounds with 18 points and six rebounds. Kamaya Miller provided 14 off the bench along with nine rebounds. Jade Winter, Ally McKenzie and Sarah Kelley finished with 12, 10 and 10 points respectively.

The Lady Hounds shot over 46% from the field, hit eight of 17 three pointers and made 11 from the free throw line.

The Lady Larks posted two players in double figures led by Millaya Bray with 13 points.

The FSCC men pulled out an exciting 68-66 victory in the ladder half of Wednesday night's doubleheader road tilt.

A couple key defensive stops late along with a last second layup proved to be the difference in the ball game.

The Greyhounds posted three players in double figures led by Andre Nelson who put together a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Tyler Zinn and John Montgomery each added 16 points.

Hesston was led in scoring by Zac Neely with a game high 26 points. 

FSCC shot nearly 41% from the field, hit five three pointers and added five points from the free throw line. Defense was a huge part in the victory as FSCC piled up a total of 15 steals and three blocks in the game.

The men have won six straight and 10 of their last 11 games.

The women improve to 11-7 overall while the men continue to roll as they improve to 15-6 overall. The Greyhounds will host Labette on Saturday afternoon for a doubleheader at Arnold Arena. The women will tip at 2:00 and the men will follow at 4:00.
