Greyhound Men Pick Up Weekend Wins at KCK

The Fort Scott Community College men's basketball team got going in the right direction to begin the 2018 portion of the schedule with a pair of wins over the weekend at KCK, 67-64 over Penn Valley on Friday and 92-75 over On-Point Academy on Saturday. 

In the victory on Friday night, the Greyhounds trailed 33-27 at halftime before rallying in the second by outscoring Penn Valley 40-31 to get the win. The Greyhounds shot nearly 44% from the floor and hit four of 13 from three point range. Andre Nelson led the attack offensively finishing the game with 23 points along with eight rebounds. Tyler Zinn pitched in 17 points along with four rebounds, two steals and two assists while John Montgomery added 10 points and five rebounds. 

Thomas Bell led Penn Valley and all scorers with 25 points. 

In the second game on Saturday, FSCC led 42-36 at halftime and would slowly pull away in the second outscoring On-Point Academy 50-39 to get the win and cap the weekend at 2-0. Zinn exploded for 31 points while hitting seven of 11 from three point range, adding five assists and three steals. Montgomery added 14 points, five assists, four rebounds and four steals. 

Jayden Davis and Dontrell Sanders provided production off the FSCC bench finishing with 14 and 13 points respectively. The Greyhounds shot 57% from the floor including 42% from three point range. 

The Greyhounds are 12-6 overall and will play at St. Mary's JV on Monday night. The women will also be in action in Leavenworth against St. Mary's JV for their first game in 2018.
