Men's Basketball Take Both Games in Gladbach Classic

The Fort Scott Men's basketball team won a pair of games over the weekend as part of the Gladbach Classic at Arnold Arena, defeating Bacone JV on Friday 89-81 and Ottawa JV on Saturday 93-51.

In the first game, FSCC built a 13-point lead at halftime as they lead 46-33 at the break but Bacone JV was able to win the second half outscoring the Greyhounds by five but FSCC was able to hold off a late charge to get the win in game one.

Five players finished in double figures led by Jayden Davis off the bench who finished with 20 points and five rebounds. Four out of five starters finished in double figures led by Andre Nelson with 15 points. Daemar Jones, Tyler Zinn and Dontrell Sanders finished the ball game with 14, 12 and 11 points respectively.

The only starter not to finish in double figures was Marshawn Williams who finished with eight points but a near double-double as he led FSCC with 12 assists and four steals.

In the big win on Saturday over Ottawa JV, the Greyhounds were dominate from the start leading by 15 at halftime and pushing that lead out in the second half outscoring Ottawa JV by 27 points.

Five players finished in double figures including four starters. Tyler Zinn put together a monster stat line leading the way with 21 points along with a team high nine assists and six steals while hitting seven of 11 shots. Dontrell Sanders finished with 16 points and a team high nine rebounds. Andre Nelson finished with 14 points and both Marshawn Williams and Jayden Davis each finished with 10 points.

The Greyhounds are 5-3 overall and have won four straight since a 1-3 start. They're back in action this weekend in Park Hills, MO to battle Vincennes University on Friday night and Mineral Area College on Saturday with game times at 5:00 for both contests.
