Softball Tied for 2nd in KJCCC Play

 

FORT SCOTT, Kan. (Apr. 8, 2024)— Exciting news for Fort Scott Community College softball fans! On Saturday, Apr. 6, the Lady Hounds clinched victories in both games against Allen County. With a season record of 20-12 and their fifth conference win, the team is showing great promise and determination.

 

In game one, Natalia Sewell showcased her dominance, not allowing a single run after pitching a complete game with five strikeouts in 4.2 innings. This impressive performance marked her twelfth victory of the season, placing her tenth in the country for total wins. Her contribution was crucial to the team's 9-0 victory. Six batters got hits for the Lady Hounds: Grace Pingel, Paiten Reavis (2), Julia Paisley (2), Avery Ragsdale, Marisela Landa, and Caroline Wilhelm. Paisley and Ragsdale both had doubles, adding to the team's success. 

During game one, FSCC got behind 0-2 in the fourth inning, then scored four straight to give them the 4-2 victory. Cassidy Crockett, Katie Thompson, and Caroline Wilhelm all had doubles. Marisela Landa and Wilhelm both had two RBIs to account for the four runs. Maddy Cole recorded her seventh victory on the mound on the season after only allowing one earned run in five innings of work. Sewell finished the last innings, recording her first save of the year. She did not allow a hit to keep her ERA under 2.00 (1.93). 

The Lady Hounds will return to the mound on Tuesday, Apr. 9, when they face Southeast Community College at 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM. Both games will be played at Fort Scott Community College.
