Softball Wins Their Sixth Game in a Row

 

FORT SCOTT, Kan. (Apr. 1, 2024)—The Fort Scott Community College softball team won both games against Highland Community College on Thursday, Mar. 28. The Lady Hounds are 17-11 on the season and have won their sixth game in a row.

 

In game one, Natalia Sewell was dominant, not allowing a run after pitching a complete game. This is her tenth victory of the season. She allowed four hits while striking out five in the 3-0 win. Marisela Landa and Caroline Wilhelm both hit solo homeruns. Paiten Reavis had two hits of her own, accounting for the other run during the game.  

Thirty minutes afterward, game two started, and FSCC won its seventh game of the season. The Lady Hounds had nine hits during the 9-4 victory; the nine hits came from Marisela Landa (2), Julia Paisley (2), Paiten Reavis (2), Katie Thompson (1), Caroline Wilhelm (3). Reavis had three RBIs, Landa had two RBIs, then Paisley, Pingel, Ragsdale, and Wilhelm each had one RBI. On the mound, Maddy Cole got her sixth victory of the season, only allowing two earned runs in six innings.  

FSCC is currently ranked in the top 25 nationally in the following categories: shutouts (11th), home runs (13th), and sacrifice hits (19th). 

 

The Lady Hounds will return to the mound on Tuesday, Apr. 2, when they face Northeastern Oklahoma AM College at 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM. Both games will be played at NEOAM.
