FORT SCOTT, Kan. (Mar. 24, 2024)—The Fort Scott Community College softball team won both games against Metropolitan Community College on Thursday, March 21st. The Lady Hounds are 15-11 on the season and have won their fourth game in a row before KJCCC play starts.


During game one, FSCC scored 11 runs on 12 hits, their sixth double-digit scoring game of the season. The Lady Hounds had five batters with at least two hits: Grance Pingel, Arizza Zajac, Avery Ragsdale, Katie Thompson, and Caroline Wilhelm. Jescie Comstock, Avery Ragsdale, and Caroline Wilhelm each had home runs during game one. Maddy Cole took her fifth victory on the mound after only allowing one earned run from five hits with four strikeouts. 

Thirty minutes afterward, game two started, and FSCC won its fifteenth game of the season. Natalia Sewell was lights out on the mound, not allowing a run in her ninth victory for the Lady Hounds. Sewell struck out seven batters and gave up less than five hitters pitching the complete game. Grace Pingel had the one RBI after bringing Caroline Wilhelm home after getting on base from a hit of her own. 

FSCC is currently ranked in the top 25 nationally in the following categories: shutouts (12th), home runs (13th), extra-base hits (21st), RBIs (23rd), and total bases (25th). 


The Lady Hounds will return to the mound on Thursday, March 28th, as they face Highland Community College at 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM, with both games being played at HCC.
