FORT SCOTT, Kan. (Feb. 27, 2024) - The Fort Scott Community College softball team received the highest ranking by the NJCAA in school history. The previous week, the Lady Hounds split against Crowder College, who won 45 games last season. FSCC won game two against them 5-1; Kirstin Buck hit a two-run home run, going one for two on the game, and Natalia Sewell won her fourth game of the year, pitching a complete game, only allowing one run.  

On Friday, FSCC defeated #14 in the country North Iowa Area Community College, 4-3, during the Ty Cullor Classic on the Fort Scott campus. Sophomore pitcher Natalia Sewell struck out nine batters for her fifth win of the season, which is 14th in the country, individually. Julia Paisley and Avery Ragsdale hit one homerun each during the game for three RBIs combined. Paisley is 9th in the country for doubles with eight on the season.  

The Lady Hounds will return to the mound on Thursday as they face Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa at 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM, with both games being played at NOC-Tonkawa. The Mavs are 3-7 on the year with wins over Barton Community College and Southern Nazarene University Junior-Varsity.
