Lady Hounds Finish Week One 3-1

The Lady Hounds started the 2024 season with an impressive outing and did not look back. Caroline Wilhelm hit two home runs and drove in six as Fort Scott Community College defeated OKWU JV 16-1 on Monday. Wilhelm homered in the first and fourth innings.
Fort Scott Community College jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Julia Paisley doubled, scoring one run, Wilhelm homered to right field, scoring two runs, and Marisela Landa doubled, scoring one run.
Fort Scott Community College added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Paisley doubled and Wilhelm singled, each scoring one run.
Fort Scott Community College scored seven runs on four hits in the bottom of the third inning. Alexis McGranahan drew a walk, scoring one run; Halle Hance drew a walk, scoring one run; Paiten Reavis singled, scoring two runs; Paisley doubled, scoring two runs, and Wilhelm doubled, scoring one run.
The Greyhounds added to the total with three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning thanks to home runs by Hance and Vilhelm.
C Walker hit a solo home run to right field in the top of the fifth for the OKWU JV.
Natalia Sewell stepped into the circle first for Fort Scott Community College. The left-handed pitcher gave up one hit and zero runs over four innings, striking out seven and walking none. L Polk stepped in the circle first for OKWU JV. The starting pitcher allowed 11 hits and nine runs (seven earned) over three and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking one. Ava Blanton appeared in relief for FSCC.
Fort Scott Community College piled up 13 hits in the game. Paisley and Wilhelm were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected four hits for Fort Scott Community College.

During game two against OKWU JV, Paiten Reavis drove in four runs on three hits to lead Fort Scott Community College past OKWU JV 19-0 on Monday. Eight runs were scored for Fort Scott Community College in the second inning to extend the lead to 16-0. Zajac singled, scoring one run; an error scored one run; Reavis singled, scoring two runs; Julia Paisley doubled, scoring two runs; and Kirstin Buck homered to right field, scoring two runs.
Fort Scott Community College added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Cassidy Crockett singled, Maddy Cole doubled, and Buck singled, each scoring one run.
Fort Scott Community College amassed 18 hits in the game. Paisley, Zajac, and Buck each collected multiple hits for the Lady Hounds. FSCC ran wild on the base paths, tallying three stolen bases for a huge game across the board.

During the weekend series against Eastern Oklahoma State, Marisela Landa hit two home runs and drove in two as Fort Scott Community College defeated Eastern 5-3 on Saturday.
The bottom of the lineup was strong for Fort Scott Community College. Alexis McGranahan, Landa, and Grace Pingel combined for six of the team's nine hits in their victory. They scored four runs and drove in three.
Natalia Sewell earned the win for Fort Scott Community College. The left-handed pitcher surrendered five hits and three runs (one earned) over seven innings, striking out 16 and walking none. M Martin took the loss for Eastern. She pitched six innings, allowing five runs on nine hits, striking out ten and walking two.
Landa and Pingel were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits for the Lady Hounds.

Game two finished with a score of 11-22 as FSCC took their first loss of the season.

The Lady Hounds are back in action on Monday, February 19th, as they travel to Ottawa University. The first pitch will be released at 1:00 PM, with game two to follow thirty minutes afterward.
