FSCC Baseball Wins Series Against Labette

 

FORT SCOTT, Kan. (Apr. 15, 2024)—The Fort Scott Community College Greyhounds won three out of their four games against Labette Community College. The Greyhounds improved their overall record to 35-8 and 15-5 in KJCCC play. FSCC has won the series against the Cardinals in back-to-back years.

Game 1

In the opening match, Chandler Fowler and Easten Smith continue their dominant seasons during the 10-9 victory. Fowler is now 4-0 after the game, and Smith received his 10th save of the season. Joey Little and Josh Polubinski both had home runs with three RBIs each. This game started a three-game win streak to solidify the series.  

Game 2

In game two, the Hounds relievers once again were lights out. Ayden Benson won his fourth game of the season once he came in during the 6th inning, and Smith finished the game with his 11th save. Ayden Slott had a two-run home run in the game, while Tresten Shigematsu had two hits for four RBIs. The Hounds won 7-6 for the sweep on Thursday, leading into the last two games of the series on Saturday. 

Game 3

To start day two on Saturday, the Greyhounds' bats were hot. FSCC had 11 runs on 10 hits, Mike Polubinski had three home runs for five RBIs, and Owen Rush had two hits for three RBIs. Cord Dobrinski, Joey Little, and Rush each had one home run during the game. Cannon Frazier got his second win of the season, and Benson recorded his second save. 

Game 4

FSCC finished the series with a 14-17 loss.  

The Hounds will return to the diamond on Tuesday against Crowder College, starting at 1:00 p.m. on the road.
