FORT SCOTT, Kan. (Apr. 1, 2024)—The Fort Scott Community College Greyhounds swept Coffeyville Community College in a four-game series. The Greyhounds improved their overall record to 29-6 and 9-3 in KJCCC play. FSCC has swept the Ravens back-to-back years, going 8-0 against them during that span.

Game 1

In the opening match, Gavin Brummund was lights out on the mound. Brummund won his sixth game of the year during the 4-1 victory. He allowed five hits and one earned run in six innings when Easten Smith finished the last inning, getting his seventh save of the season. The Hounds had six hitters get a hit during the victory. Joey Little led the way with two hits, and Jaret Nelson had two RBIs from a double in the third inning. FSCC got a thirty-minute break before game two started.  

Game 2

In game two, the game was tied 6-6 after the 4th inning. Pitchers Ayden BensonZach Nelson, Lucas Rodenburg, and Wyatt Foley did not give up a run in at least an inning of work each. In the 7th inning, the Hounds got the go-ahead run to give them the 7-6 victory. Joey Little and Josh Polubinski both had three hits with an RBI each, accounting for six of the 12 hits on the day.

Game 3

To start day two on Saturday, the Greyhounds' bats were hot. Their 1-8 hitters all had a hit each and seven RBIs during the 7-6 victory (Luke StoutMike PolubinskiCord DobrinskiJoey Little(2), and Ty Galusky(2)). Easten Smith got his eighth save of the season, which is fifth in the country. 

Game 4

FSCC finished the series with a 23-4 win after 20 hits, four doubles, two triples, and two home runs on the day. Ayden Slott went two for four with a triple and three RBIs. Mike Polubinski went two for three with three RBIs from a triple. Cord Dobrinski went three for three with three RBIs, a double, and a home run. Josh Polubinski went two for four with four RBIs and three runs. Luke Stout went three for five with three RBIs during the win. Shane Noel and Owen Rush both had two hits with three RBIs combined. JT Adams stays undefeated on the mound, striking out nine batters in 4.2 innings to close the series.  

The Hounds will return to the diamond on Thursday against Baker University for a 1:00 PM start in Iola, KS.
