FORT SCOTT, Kan. (Mar. 25, 2024)—The Fort Scott Community College Greyhounds swept Highland Community College in a four-game series. The Greyhounds improved their overall record to 24-6 and 5-3 in KJCCC play. FSCC has swept HCC three years in a row and is 15-1 against the Scotties in the past four years.

Game 1

In the opening match, Joey Little was the star of the game after going four for five with five RBIs and accounting for two runs. Owen Rush and Luke Stout both had three hits to combine for two RBIs. Mike Polubinski and Ayden Slott both had doubles that led to RBIs. Gavin Brummund is tied for 32nd in the country, gaining his fifth win of the season after striking out eight batters in five innings of work. This is the most he has had this season so far. 

Game 2

During game two, the Hounds were down 2-4, then scored three in the eighth inning and closed out the day with a win. Joey Little, Shanel Noel (2), Josh Polubinski, Mike Polubinski, and Owen Rush each had RBIs for their six total runs on the day. Pitchers, Ayden Benson, Isaak Crittenden, Lucas Rodenburg, and Easten Smith did not give up a run in at least an inning of work each. Benson got his third win on the season after not allowing a hit. 

Game 3

To start day two on Saturday, the Greyhounds' bats were hot. Their 1-5 hitters combined for nine hits and four RBIs during the 6-3 victory (Ayden Slott, Mike Polubinski, Jaret Nelson, Joey Little, and Ty Galusky). Easten Smith got his sixth save of the season, which is fourth in the country. 

Game 4

FSCC finished the series 13-3 after Jaret Nelson hit his 16th home run of the season, which leads the country. Nelson is also sixth in the NJCAA with 45 total RBIs. Nick Jones hit two home runs on the day for six RBIs. On the mound, JT Adams won his third game of the year (3-0), only allowing four hits in six innings. 

The Hounds will return to the diamond on Tuesday against Baker University for a 1:00 PM start in Fort Scott, KS.
