Baseball Starts Season 19-2

 

FORT SCOTT, Kan. (Mar. 12, 2024) - The Fort Scott Community College Greyhounds swept Baker University in a two-game series over the weekend. The Greyhounds improved their overall record to 19-2 before facing Johnson County (18-6) to start KJCCC play. FSCC has won 11 straight and 20 of its previous 21 games.

During game one, FSCC beat Baker 11-8 due to the Greyhounds having 12 hits total. Cord Dobrinski, Jaret Nelson, Tresten Shigematsu, and Ayden Slott all had two-hit games, with Nelson having three RBIs from two home runs. On the mound, Conner Burch got his first win of the season after not allowing a run in over two innings of work.

To finish out the series, the Greyhounds won 10-3; FSCC had RBIs from Jaret Nelson (2), Mike Polubinski (2), Tresten Shigematsu, and Keller Rivers (3). Shane Noel, Ty Galusky, and Luke Stout recorded singles on the day. JT Adams (2-0) excelled on the mound after striking out three batters and only allowing four hits to give the Greyhounds the victory. 

The Greyhounds will face JCCC in Fort Scott, KS, on Thursday, Mar. 14. Game one will start at 1:00 PM, and game two will begin thirty minutes after the first game's conclusion.
