Baseball Win Seventh Straight

FSCC Baseball: 15-2

 

FORT SCOTT, Kan. (Mar. 5, 2024) - Over the weekend, the Fort Scott Community College Greyhounds swept Iowa Lakes Community College in a four-game series. The Greyhounds improved their overall record to 15-2 before their last week of non-conference games. FSCC has won seven straight and 14 of its previous 15 games.


During day one, FSCC beat ILCC 8-1, then 9-8 for the 3:00 PM game. Pitcher Gavin Brummund improved to 3-0 on the season after only allowing two hits in six innings of work. Ty Galusky and Shane Noel both have two RBIs during the first game. From the 9-8 victory, Luke Stout hit a walk-off single to drive in two runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to add to his season total of 9 RBIs. First baseman Jaret Nelson hit a three-run home run during the fourth inning.


The bats started where they left off on the second day; Jaret Nelson had five RBIs from two home runs during the 12-0 victory. Olathe, KS native Gavin Shearer picked up his third win of the season on the mound; his ERA is 1.98 thus far. After the weekend, FSCC is 18th in the country in total home runs and sixth in total shutouts, which is a force to be reckoned with leading into conference play.


The Greyhounds will travel to Baker University on Wednesday for a double-header on March 6th.
