Greyhounds Split The Week

Greyhound Baseball opened up a 4 game conference series against Kansas City, Kansas last Thursday in Kansas City. Game one featured a high scoring affair between the two teams.  Nick Banman hit 2 homeruns and Darren Hasch added a key go ahead homerun in extra innings. However, the Hounds fell to KCK 12-11. Boby Johnson took the loss for FSCC allowing 5 runs in 4.2 innings pitched.

Game 2 saw more of a pitchers dual with the Greyhounds falling to the Blue Devils 3-0. Justun O'Laughlin took the loss on the mound allowing 3 runs on 8 hits in 4.2 innings of work. The FSCC offense could only muster 4 hits in the game with 2 of them coming from Nick Banman.

On day 2 the series shifted to Fort Scott where the Greyhounds fell to the Blue Devils 9-2 in game 1. Ryan McCollough took the loss for the Hounds 7 runs in 5.2 innings of work. Jedd Andrade and Andrew Tanous each doubled for the Hounds and Darren Hasch drove in 2 runs for FSCC.

In the final game of the series, the Greyhounds prevailed 6-5 to get back on track. Matt Hicks threw 7 strong innings for FSCC allowing just 4 runs on 10 hits and striking out 3. Gabe Franklin homered for FSCC, and Danny Crews and Darren Hasch each added multi-hit games for the Greyhound offense.

It was a quick turnaround for the Hounds as they made up a non-conference doubleheader with Baker University yesterday. The Greyhounds swept by scores of 11-2 and 9-8. On the mound Connor Leach and Kolton Meyer got the wins. FSCC hit 5 homeruns: Danny Crews, Nick Banman (2) Mackay Williams, and Jacob Biller. Gabe Franklin added 4 hits for FSCC, and Darren Hasch won game 2 with a walk off bunt single. Head Coach John Hill III shared his thoughts on the last 6 games:

"It was a tough conference stretch for our team, but we have rebounded nicely. It's good to see that these kids have the resiliency to weather the storm, and come out of the tough stretch even stronger. We look forward to the challenge of this last conference weekend heading into the playoffs."

FSCC Baseball will take on Johnson County currently scheduled for this Thursday and Saturday beginning at 1:00. Inclement weather could force the series to move up. All updates will be posted to gamechanger, and to fsgreyhounds.com. Johnson County enters the series with a record of 38-14 and 21-11 in the Jayhawk East.
