Baseball Completes 4-2 Week

FSCC Baseball took on Allen County in a conference series last Thursday and Saturday. The series began in Fort Scott with the Hounds taking game 1 8-7. Nick Sloan made his third start of the year, going 5 innings and allowing 4 earned runs while striking out 7. Boby Johnson relieved Sloan to get the win; he allowed 2 runs in 2 innings. Andrew Tanous hit his 4th home run of the year and drove in 4 runs.

Game 2 saw the Greyhounds take care of the Red Devils 16-6. The Greyhound Offense hit 5 home runs: 2 from Jacob Biller and 1 from Andrew Tanous, Darren Hasch, and Jedd Andrade. Ryan McCollough went the distance on the mound for FSCC. He allowed 6 runs and struck out 10.

The series shifted to Iola, Kansas on Saturday for a blustery day of baseball with winds howling out to left field all day. The Greyhounds scored 13 runs on 15 hits, highlighted by homeruns from Gabe Franklin, Jacob Biller, Nick Banman, and Harrison Whitworth. However that was not enough as the red devils prevailed 19-13 with 4 homeruns of their own. Miles Wagner took the loss for FSCC running his record to 5-2.

Game 2 saw the Greyhounds jump out to a 12-4 lead behind 2 home runs from Danny Crews, and another from Taylor Fajardo. However Allen hit 4 more homeruns and scored 20 runs in the 20-13 defeat. Boby Johnson took the loss for FSCC.

FSCC took on Ottawa University in a non-conference doubleheader yesterday at Lions Field. FSCC swept the twin bill by scores of 11-4 and 8-4. Andrew Tanous had two homeruns for the Hounds, and Jedd Andrade added 5 hits in the two games to lead the offensive charge.  Justin O'Laughlin threw a complete game in the first game allowing just the 4 runs and striking out 8. Cayde Williams picked up his first collegiate win in the 2nd game. Head Coach John Hill III shared his thoughts on the week's games.

"It has been a good week for our team. We competed well, and have put our self in position to possibly host a playoff series. The next 3 weeks will be very big for us."

FSCC Baseball will square off with Neosho County this Thursday and Saturday. Thursday's game will be in Chanute while Saturday's game will be at Lions field. Neosho enters with a record of 35-6 and 18-6 in the KJCCC East. Fort Scott enters with a record of 31-10 and 15-9 in the KJCCC East.
