FSCC Baseball Wins 5 of 6

Greyhound Baseball traveled to Coffeyville on March 10th to take on the Ravens. Game one featured a back and forth affair, with the Greyhounds winning by a final score of 6-5. It was a key double by sophomore Gabe Franklin that gave the Greyhounds the lead in the 6th inning for good. Connor Leach got the win in relief and Boby Johnson came in to shut the door for the hounds for his first save of the year. 

Game 2 saw the Hounds fall behind 7-0 before storming all the way back to take the lead 8-7 in the 7th inning. The comeback was led by Jacob Biller who hit the go ahead homerun for the Hounds. However, the comeback was short lived as the Hounds fell to the Ravens 11-8. Avery Boehm took the loss for the Hounds out of the bullpen. 

Day two of the series was a dominant performance by the Greyhounds. In just two innings the FSCC jumped out to a 15-0 lead behind home runs from Jacob Biller and Harrison Whitworth. Biller and Whitworth each drove in 4 runs for the Greyhound offense. Miles Wagner got the win throwing all 5 innings and allowing just the 1 run on 3 hits and striking out 5. 

The final game of the series saw the Greyhounds again thump the Ravens by a final score of 13-2. Jacob Biller, Jedd Andrade and Nick Banman each homered in the game for the Hounds. And Andrew Tanous added 2 hits for the Greyhound Offense. Matt Hicks continued his winning ways going all 7 innings and allowing just 2 runs on 6 hits and striking out 6.

Greyhound Baseball traveled to Evangel University on March 15th. It was a doubleheader sweep by a combined score of 25-9. Nick Banman had 4 hits in game 1 including a homerun and 2 doubles driving in 5. Gabe Franklin had 6 hits to the first game including a key double to put the Hounds ahead. Harrision Whitworth had 3 hits in game 2 and really helped the Greyhounds continue to roll.   Malik Sams made his pitching debut for FSCC and received his first win of the year in game 2. He allowed just 1 run in 4 innings for FSCC. Head Coach John Hill III shared his thoughts on the last week:

"I am very happy with our team to this point, especially last Friday. It was great to see them put things together as a team, and really makes me excited for the season moving forward. There is still a long way to go, and a lot of adjustments that we can make, but it's always easier to make those adjustments while experiencing success."

Greyhound Baseball travels to Independence this Thursday and Saturday. Game time Thursday is 2:00 with the series concluding Saturday at Lions field beginning at 1:00.
