10 days until the Greyhounds open the 2016 season. Today the program honors former Greyhound third-baseman Trevor Geist from Fort Morgan, Colorado. Geist was a two time all-conference performer for the Hounds in 2007, and 2008. While performing well statistically, Geist was also a team captain, often giving advice to younger players in order to make the team as a whole more successful. Head Coach John Hill III shared his thoughts on Trevor Geist:
"I coached against Trevor, and could always tell that he was a grinder. He was always diving for baseballs and attempting to take extra bases. Not to mention that he has a plate presence that made coaches take notice. I really enjoyed, and hated matching up against him."
Some of his accolades with the program include:
· 1st team 3B all-conference and region 2008
· 2nd team 3B all conference 2007
· 3rd all-time in doubles (30)
· 2nd all-time HBP (30)
· Career .373 hitter
· 13 career homeruns
After FSCC, Geist went on to play at Northwestern State University. Currently he back in Fort Morgan, where he is engaged to be married.
Greyhound Baseball is set to begin its season February 13th against Cloud County at the LaRoche Complex in Fort Scott. Game time is set for 1:00.
