For the first time in school history, the Greyhound Volleyball team hosted the NJCAA Plains District B Play-offs. In the first match, the #2 seated Hounds faced the #7 seated T-Birds of Cloud County. The Greyhounds proceeded to sweep the T-Birds in three sets by scores of 25-22, 25-19 and 26-24 to advance to the championship match. In the match, Freshman Outside Hitter, Juliana Squire, recorded 16 kills, Sophie Mader had 39 assists and Abbie Casper had 17 digs.

“In my opinion, I knew Cloud was going to be our toughest match of the day.  I knew we needed to really focus on performing our game plan in order to finish on top,” said Head Coach Lindsay Hill.

The championship match saw the #2 seated Greyhounds matched up with the #3 seated Scottie Dogs of Highland. The Hounds came out hot, winning the first set 25-19, but lost a hard fought second set 29-27. In set three, the Hounds won a close one, 25-21, and proceeded to roll in set four, 25-14. In the match,  Juliana Squire had 18 kills and 11 digs, Bailee Swanson recorded 15 kills with 11 digs, Sophie Mader recorded 60 assists and Abbie Casper tallied 25 digs.

“I am beyond proud of this team.  We had a great week of practice leading up to the District Tournament and it carried over to our matches.  It was a total team effort,” said Coach Hill.

With the win, the Lady Greyhounds will for the first time in school history head to the National Tournament in Charleston, WV. The Greyhounds were seeded #4 in the bracket, putting their first match on Thursday, November 21st at 3pm EST.  If they win, they will turn right around and play again at 7:30pm EST.

“This is an amazing opportunity for our program and these young ladies.  We are going to go compete to the best of our ability and enjoy the experience,” said Coach Hill.
