FSCC's 2014 Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees

Fort Scott Community College will honor the 1972 National Runner-Up Football team as the newest members of the FSCC Athletic Hall of Fame with an induction ceremony and breakfast on October 11, 2014.

The 1972 team finished the regular season with a perfect 10-0 record, qualifying them to play for the National Championship.  Defensively the Greyhounds were the top team in the conference only giving up 103 points total during the regular season.  The defense also produced Cliff Frazier, a first-team NJCAA All-American, and already an individual member of the FSCC Athletic Hall of Fame.

Offensively the team averaged 39.3 points a game and totaled 393 points for the regular season.  The offense was led by Chester Pennock, a nationally ranked quarterback, and one of his favorite targets, Stan Ricketts.  Unfortunately, the Greyhounds fell in the National Championship game to Arizona Western.

The public is invited to attend the Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Saturday, October 11, 2014.  FSCC will host a reception, breakfast, and induction ceremony in the cafeteria.  Doors will open at 9:00 a.m. and breakfast will start at 9:30 a.m.  Tickets for the breakfast are available for $8 each and you can RSVP at (620) 223-2700 ext.7350, or e-mail maryi@fortscott.edu.  We will provide free football game tickets to all Hall Of Fame induction attendees.  The Greyhounds will face Ellsworth Community College at 1:00 p.m. at Frary Field on Saturday, October 11, 2014.

On Friday, October 10th, the 2014 Greyhound Golf Classic will be held at Woodland Hills Golf Course.  This will be a four man scramble format with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.  Cost is $200 for a foursome and $75 for an individual.  Please contact J.D. Ettore at 620-223-2700 ext. 7230 to register either your foursome or individual player.
