Fort Scott Community College Clinches Lead in Fifth Inning to Defeat Highland Scotties.

Fort Scott Community College stole the lead late and defeated Highland Scotties 11-4 on Sunday.  The game was tied at four with Fort Scott Community College batting in the bottom of the fifth when Katie Thompson singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run. Fort Scott Community College captured the lead in the first inning.  Ally Bartley drove in one when Bartley singled.

Highland Scotties knotted the game up at four in the top of the third inning.  Kukowski doubled on a 3-0 count, scoring one run. After Highland Scotties scored one run in the top of the second, Fort Scott Community College answered with one of their own.  Highland Scotties scored when Rapp tripled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.  Fort Scott Community College then answered when Julia Hess drew a walk, scoring one run.

Maddy Cole was credited with the victory for Fort Scott Community College. Cole allowed seven hits and four runs over seven innings, striking out five. Schmitz took the loss for Highland Scotties. The pitcher surrendered nine runs on ten hits over four and two-thirds innings, striking out three.

Fort Scott Community College racked up 13 hits.  Halle Hance, Julia Paisley, Paiten Reavis, and Bartley all collected multiple hits for Fort Scott Community College.  Hance went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Fort Scott Community College in hits. Kukowski led Highland Scotties with two hits in four at bats.

Game 2 Recap

Fort Scott Community College managed through a push by Highland Scotties in the fifth inning where Fort Scott Community College coughed up three runs, but Fort Scott Community College still won 7-4 on Sunday.  The offensive firepower by Highland Scotties was led by Williams and Stember, all driving in runs in the frame.

Fort Scott Community College got things started in the first inning.  Julia Paisley singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run. Jenni Jennings got the win for Fort Scott Community College. The righty lasted seven innings, allowing seven hits and four runs while striking out ten. Kreisel toed the rubber for Highland Scotties. Kreisel went four innings, allowing six runs on 13 hits, striking out four and walking one.  Asbury threw two innings out of the bullpen.

Highland Scotties launched two home runs on the day. Stember put one out in the fifth inning. Williams went for the long ball in the third inning.

Fort Scott Community College collected 15 hits.  Halle Hance, Julia Hess, Kennedi Christian, and Katie Thompson all managed multiple hits for Fort Scott Community College.  Hance led Fort Scott Community College with four hits in four at bats.  Fort Scott Community College was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Christian had the most chances in the field with ten.

Highland Scotties saw the ball well today, racking up seven hits in the game.  Stember and Williams all managed multiple hits for Highland Scotties.  Highland Scotties didn't commit a single error in the field. Kukowski had eight chances in the field, the most on the team.

Jenni Jennigs had a career high 10 strikeouts. The Hounds are now 19-6 on the year and 2-0 in conference play. The Hounds will head to Allen County CC this Thursday with first pitch starting at 1:00.
