Hounds Rally Late to Beat Hutchinson CC

 

Fort Scott Community College stole the lead late and defeated Hutchinson Community College Blue Dragons 9-8 on Sunday. The game was tied at eight with the Greyhounds batting in the top of the ninth when Delanie Freeze doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run. Freeze led Fort Scott Community College to victory by driving in five runs. She went 3-for-4 at the plate. Freeze drove in runs on a grand slam in the seventh and a double in the ninth. Hutchinson Community College Blue Dragons captured the lead in the second inning. An error scored one run for Hutchinson Community College Blue Dragons. In the top of the seventh inning, Fort Scott tied things up at eight. Freeze drove in four when she homered. The Hounds scored five runs in the seventh inning. The offensive onslaught came from a single by Abby Cox and a home run by Freeze. Freeze was the winning pitcher for Fort Scott Community College. She went six innings, allowing five runs on two hits and striking out ten. Katie Bunch threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen. Bunch recorded the last nine outs to earn the save for the Greyhounds. Megan Davis took the loss for Hutchinson Community College Blue Dragons . She allowed seven hits and four runs over three innings, striking out two and walking zero. Madison Lewellen started the game for Hutchinson Community College Blue Dragons . She went six innings, allowing five runs on nine hits and striking out five Fort Scott tallied one home run on the day. Freeze had a homer in the seventh inning. The Greyhounds totaled 16 hits in the game. Cox, Freeze, Makenzie Sample, Kennedee Meier, and Lane Bohlken each had multiple hits for Fort Scott. Cox went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead the Hounds in hits. Taylor Ullery led Hutchinson Community College Blue Dragons with two hits in five at bats.
