'Hounds Win Home Opener
After taking on the Coffeyville Community College which is the number four ranked team in the nation and a tough defensive minded team in Cowley County Community College last weekend, the Hounds returned to Arnold Arena for their first home game of the 18-19 season against a disciplined and well coached Washburn JV team.

The game started a little slow with both teams feeling each other out with the Greyhounds taking a eight point lead early with the score being 9-1, after calming down and some substitutions by Head Coach Michael Cook , the lead was extended to twelve point. The Greyhounds took over from there.

The Greyhounds closed out the half strong and held Washburn to 28 points while scoring 46 points. The second half saw the Greyhounds continue to play strong and up tempo and pushing the lead out to as much as thirty points at one point. The Greyhounds pressed and pushed the ball and got everyone involved in the offense most of the game with five players scoring in double figures. Craig Jordan lead scorers by scoring 16, Travis Zeno and Andre Nelson scoring 11 and 12 points respectively with Aaron Williams scoring 14 off the bench and a team high 9 rebounds. Andre Nelson grabbed 8 rebounds and teammate Kannon Jones lead the Greyhounds with 5 assists.

"We got what we needed after tough weekend on the road and that was playing at home in front of our great and energetic fans. I thought our guys used that excitement and energy from our fans to have great moments at times. Our defense still needs to be strong for forty minutes. I thought our guys played hard for the entire game which is something that we can build on. I also thought everyone contributed tonight. Jeremiah August helped anchor the back of the defense and Tanner Lackey and Aaron Williams brought great energy off the bench and we will need that every night" stated Head Coach Michael Cook.
