Hounds Reloading for 2018-2019 Season

Head Men's basketball coach Michael Cook knew that his recruiting this off season would be centered on replacing two captains who happened to be the top scorers from this past season also. The Hounds lost John Montgomery and Tyler Zinn to graduation, Montgomery brought athleticism, toughness and energy and Zinn was one of the most prolific shooters in the conference and the programs history, leaving Fort Scott ranked third on the all-time scoring, having scored 1067 points, also ranked 11th in rebounds with 220 rebounds and 5th in assist with 190 assists.

However, the cupboard is not totally empty with two players returning for their sophomore season and adding transfers there will be a solid foundation to put with the incoming class of freshman. Returning players are Andre Nelson who averaged 13 points per game while pulling down 5 rebounds per games as a starter and was ranked 12th in scoring- 7th in rebounds- 6th in field goal percentage- 8th in the conference. Aaron Williams transferred into the program second semester and redshirted, Aaron brings a ton athletic ability and will be a great addition to the team.

"The great thing about this recruiting class is that a lot of the players are interchangeable and can be put in several positions on the court. Our team will be difficult to defend and score on with the versatility that we have recruited this year. Some of the time last year opposing teams new that we were going thru John or Tyler and that would put us in difficult situations and we would go thru some scoring droughts at times, hopefully this year we will have several guys step up and provide on both ends of the floor," stated Head Coach Michael Cook.
