Hounds Win on the Road

The Fort Scott Community College football team opened up their 2019 away schedule Saturday evening at Veteran's Memorial Stadium against the Red Ravens of Coffeyville Community College. The Greyhounds were able to get the victory on the road 40-29 and moved to 2-0 on the season.
The Greyhound defense turned in the second consecutive stellar outing forcing 6 total turnovers which included five interceptions and a fumble. The first half saw the Hounds cruise to an early 34-7 lead at halftime, and they were able to control the clock for most of the second half.
Offensively, the Hounds were led by sophomore quarterback Carolos Davis, who came in early in the first quarter after starter Rayvon Bartlett went down with an injury. Davis finished the night with 171 passing yards and 2 touchdowns, and added another 75 yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground. Much of the yardage through the air was to sophomore receiver John Jiles, who finished the night with 10 catches for 157 yards and 1 touchdown. Running back John Oliver totaled 18 carries for 117 yards, as FSCC racked up an impressive 301 total yards on the ground.
The Greyhounds will enjoy a week off before returning to Frary Field to face the Hutchinson Community College Blue Dragons. Hutch was ranked #5 in the preseason poll, and since that time every team in the top 4 has been defeated. There is a good chance that the Hounds will be facing the top team in the country September 14th at 7:00pm.
